I am loosing coolant through the reservoir cap.Is this due to engine coolant themostat being out of order?How do you clean or get access?
is it a big job?

Not good, check the main hose on the passenger side that comes off the rad, is it really hard?

Passenger side hose is pliable.Not hard

Only reason it should come out is overpressurising (HG, overheating, coolant leak) or a knackered cap.
My initial check would be coolant leak from HBV causing overpressurising

Yup, thinks to consider with a coolant leak is that when the system cools down, air is drawn in, this creates hot spots and you can get bubbling from the tank.

If you can get yourself to MarkDTM, i am sure he can give you an expert diagnois.

If your auxiliary pump by the top left of the radiator is not working, you can get coolant forced out of the reservoir after shutdown.
If the system is hot enough, that pump and the main fan will run on.
At this time of year it may not get really hot, so that might not be the problem, something to look out for if we have a summer.
