Title: Omega Cuts Out...
Post by: thegasgranny on 04 February 2008, 15:40:23
Hello!

I've been trying to sort this problem out now since before Christmas.

Basically, it starts, and drives, but then cuts out after about 15mins. Then it'll start up again - normally without a problem.

I've had two auto electrians look at it and they have tested just about everything - I've even had the ECU sent away and it tested OK.

Could this be a dodgey crank sensor which cured the problem for two weeks before it started happing again?

Has anyone got any suggestions?

It's for sale in it's current state if anyone is interested.

Cheers.

TGG.

Have you tried cleaning out the throttle body, breathers and IACV? As these are a big cause of cutting out and rough idling.

As said try having the IACV cleaned and relubed first.

Thanks for the quick reply!

It's had a new IACV not 12 months ago and it's probably only done about 1000miles. (maybe 18months ago but my parents didn't do allot of miles in it.)

Which breathers do I need to check? It's a 2.0ltr 2001 GLS.

Cheers HTH Karl

Was it a genuine crank sensor of a cheaper aftermarket one?

I had an old Sierra 4x4 that did the very same thing.

Pauses for 5 minutes whilst he reminices  :y

It was the fuel filter.

Replaced it and problem disappeared

you said it was fine after fitting new crank sensor, then prob. returned, someone may know of a fault that might affect it. Have you had codes read?

Does this happen at idle or under load?

Have you given it a thrash?

Have you cleaned the breather hole underneath the throttle body?

Any kinked fuel pipes?

Fuel filter?
