Title: cam belt
Post by: khatton on 08 February 2008, 19:42:46
i will be doing my cam belt soon ordered kit are there any things to watch for as i wil be doing it without the locking kit as i cant get hold of one to hire and i cant justify that sort of money to buy one to  the wife already moaning about hbv price but i only paid 100 quid for it and its nice and drives great for a car with 14500 miles on it

V6? Not recommended at all. You can only really make a good guess at valve timing without  a locking kit.
Where do you live? An OOF member may well be local enough to lend you one. I have one that can be borrowed if I live any where near you.
4 pot engines use a very cheap to buy cam lock. £5/6

Still need more!

Which type of V6? The belt change on a 3.2 more difficult than the 3.0, no bottom adjustment.

When was the belt last changed? - You might as well change the water pump while you are there
