I bought my omega last month which came with a full service history, strangely though not main dealer, anyway, i will be driving it down to spain in three weeks time and was wondering if there is anything i should be doing to it or checking before i go. I plan to do about 3000+ miles in the space of 3 weeks so any advice welcolme. Also can anyone recommend a european breakdown cover.
cheers. :y

Something for the spares box I think. Good idea.

Plannig a road trip to portugal this year then on to spain [alicante] then back to blighty in the summer so will be thinking on the same lines as you. A crank sensor change will be done before i go and an oil and filter change plus a spare one to do while away, Spare bulbs and an aux belt will be taken with me in case. :y

just to emphasise - v6 owners should always have spare crank sensor in boot

This is a trip I do at least once a year, good preparation is the key, members on the forum will know more than me about the nuts and bolts.Carry the obvious things, spare fan belt, oil, bulbs and nowadays a high viz coat which you must wear if you get out on the motorway. Also the tyre tread limit is different, I think it is 3mm not 1.6 as in the UK. I get my breakdown cover with QUOTELINE DIRECT. £59 for the year, 24/7/365 cover at home and up to 90 days abroad, it is with Mondial Assistance. You must have your car checked by a vat registered garage 14 days before the trip, but it is something most drivers would do anyway. I have never had to use them so can't tell you what the service is like if you do break down.It is internet only, www.quotelinedirect.co.uk, print your own certificate and do your own amendments without waiting on a phone line. Have a nice holiday

I'm an RAC member (personal cover if anyone can remember such a thing). Usefull cos it covers me for any vehicle including my m bike.
Last time I asked for European cover it only covered a maximum of 100 miles from the port - so beware. Lucky enough on that occassion my destination was 98.8 miles from Calais (Aubigny Au Bac) but they charged a fortune for extra cover cos the car at the time was more than 9 years old.
Mines a 2000 facelift with 92k, don't know the history, should I get a crankshaft sensor anyway just in case?
