Anyone know how consumtion is calculated?
Computer is showing about 2 litres/100km too little when cruising.
I have found and fixed a big leak on the brake servo vacuum hose, thought that would fix it but it didnt... Fixed the brakes though.
I have also cleaned the MAF, blanked the EGR, checked for other leaks but it still calculates wrong.
Would a tuning chip affect the consumtion calculation? I dont know if the car is chipped or not...
Oh, and i checked the injectors part nr. should be original.
Should i worry that the engine gets a too lean AFR mixture?
Thanks

2 liters / 100 km is nearly the idle consumption..

Its calculating about 6 litres/100km @ 100km/h
Should be more like 8/100.
What does it use to calculate this? Air flow? Injection time?
Is it the ECU that does the calculating or the OBC itself?

The cacilations are done in the MID display itself fed from various sensors and info from the ECU, the MID is Engine and Gearbox specific.
So has it been replaced at some stage or is it faulty or missing sensor.
Press both buttons together for a few seconds (buttons on the stalk) the MID will give you a load of numbers, these numbers tell you how the MID has been programed for what engine and gearbox (theres a look up table on this site somewhere!).

Thanks for the info. I went and checked the numbers.
3L auto gearbox says 021, 01, 24846 - calculates wrong
3L manual gb says 019, 04, 24846 - my other car, calculates "mpg" correctly
Can the MID be reprogrammed or does it need to be repalced if incorrect model? Both Omegas are model 1995
Thanks

I checked with a friend who also has a 3L auto Omega -96,
he has 020, 04, 24846 and it seems to calculate correctly.
I dont know if the mid has ever been replaced but anything is possible.
I didnt find a lookup table...

To reprogram MID, needs a chat with Tech2. In Tech Info section, I have a post showing configs for early MIDs...

Found it. Does this mean the MID is meant for a X20XEV 2 litre?

The opel dealer wants 40€ to connect his tech2. I was thinking of maybe buying a opelscanner instead (www.opel-scanner.com).
Maybe i could do some programming with that, what do you think?
They promise the opelscanner can do all sorts of actuator tests and more.

I only have 065 ver of the software and there is no way to change anything in MID. Theoreticaly, new version ca do it, but it might be just a language change. It will take some time to make it wors like Tech-2.
Try to find somebody around your place, who has Tech2 or latest Opel-Scanner and givi it a try. They wil charge you less than 40 Euros.
When the petrol consumption should be 8l/100km in 3l engine?
