Can you do the paper clip test to determine if the cat is ok ? if so what code am i looking for. :question
-
Nope. There is no post-cat sensor on the 2.5 and even on cars with this it only monitors a small pre-cat not the main one. MOT emissions test is really the only way to tell if it's working. What makes you suspect the cat(s)?

no paticular reason exahaust needs replacing as its rusted and now leaks just wandered if its worth doing the whole system. also the seem little back presure.

I would say if the cat sections are sound and emissions were Ok at the last MOT, leave them. Especially true if the system is not being replaced with genuine Vauxhall as pattern replacement cats can be awful.
In fact, as has been said many times here, it's worth getting a trade club card and buying any replacement exhaust parts genuine since they are far better quality than pattern parts, quieter and longer lasting.

Thanks for the advice I think I have two cats and one centre section are original other centre section and tale pipe are patterns the original centre section is blowing not enough to fail an mot apparently. Enough to anoy and give you a headache. The cats have a jubilee round the end i think it is to stop the heat shealds ratling probably took it to charlie browns ;D

Sounds like the cats may as well be left. You might find the centre sections are difficult to remove from the rear box so it might be worth patching the leaky centre section if possible, until the both centres and the back box are ready for replacement. :-/

Join ABS get a trade card and purchase a VX system and save more than you paid to join ABS, good exaust system, save money = win, win. :y
