I own an Omega 2.2 DTI (2001) which I have owned since nearly new (12,600 miles). I had a full service history with Vauxhall approved garages and 5000 miles after a major service at 99,000, the engine went 'pop'. I paid for a completely new engine so I am told (It cost over £5,000 and I carried on). At 172,000 miles, the engine has gone 'pop' again - not good after 67,000 this time. The car has never been hammered and the simple question is
How many miles should I have expected from the 2.2 DTI engine ?
Many thanks

My first question would be......how WELL serviced is it?
-
poor servcing.... seen DTi's do 300k on orginal engine.
Its like with any engine, regular oil changes, and good maintaince.
If the engine is failing at 60k sounds like bad servicing!

i suspect the servicing has been to the service intervals, that are way too long.
I do my diesel (different engine) every 3k, and to be honest, the oil is shot.
Poorly serviced chain driven engines are always going to get excessive timing chain wear.

Do you know what actually failed on the engines?
