Title: non starter
Post by: driver1 on 22 February 2008, 11:31:00
got in to the car this morning and it would not fire at all,( i was going to get the tracking checked after changing wish bones). i did paperclip test and only got 31. checked for spark and there seems to be none. can the dis pack fail overnight or could it be something else ? any help please.  :(

Fuel getting to fuel rail (eg, could be fuel pump relay or fuse)?  DIS packs don't normally fail completely, so should at leats try to catch if its that.

31 code is non conclusive on non running V6 :(

if there is a fuel pump prob would this cause no spark?

No so easy to check for spark on modern DIS and CPP engines without a proper spark tester.

Possible DIS has failed, but usually to completely fail.

Presumably EML isn't flashing (and that it has a working bulb in)?

eml ok , i used a spare spark plug held against the engine for ground but no spark apparent, tried two different plug leads.  :(

Not sure about the error code but symptom sounds like it could be crankcase sensor.

if it was crank sensor would it not give a code when i did paperclip test

if i use my multi meter to measure from a plug lead to ground should i get a reading if the diss is ok, at the moment i have got open circuit ,ie no measurement in ohms.

Do you get a reading between one lead, and its associated other lead (its a wasted spark system)
