think i had one of those for a short while. was a 2.0 GLSi. Replaced my 1980 Astra.

i have had loads of Mk2's, for a long while they were my weapon of choice for modifying....
Personal fave was a Mk2 CDi looking similar to the one in the auction, it started life as a 2.0 auto pushing 115 bhp, when i sold it on it was running a phase 2 LET ;D
With the exception of it being lowered and running 15'' expression alloys it looked bog standard, it would wipe the smile off the face of a lot of performance stuff, once i could get the front wheels to stop spinning....sold it with a goosed engine
There wasnt much that didnt fit under the bonnet, i have had them running 2.0XE's LET's and even V6's, most of the time they have to run an F16 FWD box and both wheels spin and torque steer are horrendous, b ut once they are rolling they are good fun
They are starting to increase in value now, especially the Calibre models, there are less than 150 left now.
This one has had a set of back arches and the wheels look a bit naff, it will most likely fetch £400/£500 though

My mum and dad had one back in the day... mum, being 5'1", couldn't see the end of the bonnet, so had a mattress against the workbench in the garage, and would just drive in til she touched it...

;D ;D ;D My Dad hung a tennis ball on string from the garage roof so it touched the windscreen when the bumper was close to the back wall so my Mum knew when to stop!

:D
Speaking of which, mum's just got a Mazda3. With the aforementioned workbench still in the garage, 20-odd years on... there's a half-inch of room at each end of it... looks like the bench is coming out for me to garage the Omega... :D
