Title: Brake lights not working...
Post by: psg150 on 24 February 2008, 20:24:20
I have a 2.5 V6 auto 1998. When I start up, the box is locked in park and the brakelight warning comes on. If I push the brake pedal really hard down, I can unlock the box, but when driving, I only get brake lights in reverse (sometimes) and when going downhill (it appears)

I am guessing a sensor fault/wiring issue. Any Ideas?

Also have constant engine management light - for ages. Garage says it is faulty sensor - has been replaced but no better.

A new brake light switch (above the brake pedal) would be the first thing I'd replace. I had problems getting mine out of park, althougth the brake lights worked, & a new switch sorted it. Can't remember how much ... but wasn't expensive.

There's a member of the forum ... AndyC  who can get you parts at trade prices ... and he is VERY helpful .. I can vouch for that  :)
