Hi, having had the car moved on the drive and left with its nose uphill for a week, I tried starting it and had the usual problem of fuel draining back from the injectors to the tank. >:( Whilst trying to start the car I noticed the MID was randomly flashing lines, blocks and odd characters. I have tried removing the fuse as someone recomended but it still just flashes randomly, as if the voltave is too low. The battery is OK.
Any idears please?

Sounds to me like a voltage problem, I assume the cars not been running on a regular basis.
Check the battery voltage (off line) fully charged should read about 12.5 Volts, check it on line, (engine not running) should not drop below 12 volts. now check it again with engine running 13.8 - 14.5 volts, switch everything on, lights, heater, rear screen heater should still be above 13.8 volts.
anything different to the above then fully charge the battery 2 -3 days and try again (could be duff battery or charging problem).

Just had another thought with yours being 2003 CDX, has it got a Colour Screen (CID) ie, Sat Nav option?

Hi Zirk, no it is the orange LED type.
A friend has recomended disconnecting the battery for a short time to make everything reboot. But I am not sure I have the radio code and any other codes I may need, so I don't want to try that just yet.

I've disconnected the battery on my 2.2CD petrol auto (52 plate) twice now in order to recharge and then later to replace it with a new one. I didn't have to enter the radio code, it rebooted automatically.You need to remember to disconnect the battery leads after switching off the ignition (within 15 seconds I think) otherwise the alarm sounder is activated.

Checked battery voltages, all OK. 12.3V engine off, 14.2 idling no load, 13.9 idling lights and all heaters on.
I have read the handbook :o and am confused about disabling the radio code. As I can not see the display to check the code, I do not want to disconnect the battery.
Any further ideas please?

The MID are pretty much stand alone things (apart from the sensor's and radio feed).
If it was me I'd pretty much think MID f**ked, you cant really repair them so best to get another from Ebay or Scrappy.
Rip the dash clocks out (10min job), look at the back of the MID and it will tell you what type (colour) plugs on the back then replace it.
If you dont get one from the same car (Engine and gearbox type) you may need to get it Tech2'ed to get the MPG and stuff correct but you can worry about all that afterwards.

:) Well I don't know what happened, but I was checking out how to remove the MID as you recomended before I left work. When I started the car the MID worked OK and (touch wood) has continued to do so.

Keep an eye on it, it might be the MID connector is loose.
