Title: Facelift sat nav
Post by: The Cambelt Kid on 01 March 2008, 21:34:46
Does anyone know what i would need to get a color screen + satnav into my facelift Omega?  apart from luck...

I have been looking at http://www.megaomega.co.uk/ and i realy luurve the color screen and wondered what i needed to do to get in into my car?

I have a facelift MV6 so i don't know if i've got the wire loom or if i need to use a tech2?

Cheers
Marc

Converted an Elite earlier today.

You need an NCDC stereo, and a CID, both in delivery mode.  You need to check that you have the RBG cable installed (all Elites seem to have, not sure about lesser models).

You need your carpass, and a chat with a Tech2

Cheers TB.

Just googled CID and came up with http://home.btconnect.com/nickargue/OmegaSatNav.htm

So i need a head unit and CID from the same car, or if from seperate cars then need to be in delivery mode.

I get the feeling that this kit can be quite rare and expensive  :(

I've heard rumours that if they come from same car they may not need to be depaired.

However, not sure if you'll be able to get your config on there, hence why I'd only recommend getting ones in delivery mode

having had a browse of http://cgi.ebay.de/KVA-OPEL-CID-DISPLAY-NAVI-OMEGA-B-VECTRA-ASTRA-ZAFIRA_W0QQitemZ250218154861QQihZ015QQcategoryZ76086QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem  and my wife to decode the German blurbe, the screen is readily available for £150 but the auction does warn that the correct radio is needed.

I may even contact my local breakers and tip them to call me when a flash elite arrives with a color screen and a special radio.

In fact TB, can you put them in delivery mode with your box of tricks?

With the carpass in the original car, yes.

With the original carpass, but not in orignal car - unsure.

No original carpass, no.

Hmmm me thinks it would be easier to buy an elite... but i will try my local breakers first.  I suppose i could buy a head unit with code card from the breakers and then buy a screen when one become available.  I take it i can just drop teh head unit in and enter teh safe code with no tech2 work?

cheers

Check if you have the RGB cable first.

Actually, do you have a GID or MID at moment?

Ah.

I think you may have some wiring fun to do then :(

when you say RGB, do you mean reg green blue?

I take it that the cable is from the head unit to screen only and not around the car twice?

yes. its about a 12/14 pin cable.

but, I think your larger cable may be wrong as well now....  ....not sure

Am I right in thinking you could go to VX for a new screen and head unit, but they'd want £1000+ - or have they stopped doing them now?

The extra wiring is not to challenging.....

CID from VX is around £1000 +Vat, I guess they would probably charge about the same for the HU.

I'm guessing that the GID is CAN, similar to CCRT700 display, and the MID (being interchangable with older cars) isn't?  Which means a bit of friggin on the loom between them - easy enough if diag available though I would imagine :)

Im fairly sure you can make up a RGB cable by using a CD Changer rear Plug for the NCDC range.

That's the one for a Vectra C / Signum (So presumably the widescreen hooked up to one of the later head units). My mistake.

That's my web site  :) . I origianlly fitted a GID/NCDC that wasn't depaired first and they worked fine.
I only had them fitted for a few months until I could source a CID so I didn't have any Tech2 work done to them so I don't know if that's possible.

You need to add the RGB cable which is a 12 way connector, and do a slight rewire to the 32 way cable and the radio connector.

Just had a quick look at this. I think he's offering a screen repair for a fixed price of €198

Do you have the security code/carpass from the donor car?

1 in 10000 chance of guessing right then, should ever you want to depair (eg, fit CID)....

I sold them as a pair a while back on fleaBay and replaced them with  a new CID and NCDC   :)

The stereo itseld used to be £650, I know this cos mine stopped working and it had to be replaced at company cost:)

To make life easier to have an omega with sat nav why not buy mine on ebay :)
