Title: alarm problem
Post by: mars on 03 March 2008, 20:40:11
Need a bit of advice please. I drive 3 miles to work each morning, park up and lock my 2.2 cdx. Over the last week my alarm has gone off most mornings within 5 to 10 mins of parking. It has happened a couple of times away from work but this seems to be when it most often happens. Sometimes just indicators flashing, but most times horn aswell. Grateful for any suggestions/advice. :(

Disconnect the bonnett switch first and see what happens, its quite a common fault.

is it just the siren? or horn as well?

Make sure the bonnet catch is well greased.

Hate to sound thick but not sure . Sounds like the horn but in short continuous blasts, sometimes sounds a bit shaky aswell :-[

The bonnet switch is a good one to investigate - but with you only doing 3 odd miles a day, are you sure the battery isn't being fully charged and slowly draining - happened to me once. Took a long drive to sort it out.

Thanks Debs and Tafty for suggestions, will bear both in mind. Most times when locking car led flashes straight away for about ten seconds, stops and then continues flashing
