Post by: firemansam1066 on 29 February 2008, 18:41:21
hiya folks, i've searched the forum for this problem, can't find it, so here goes, my drivers side wiper goes off the screen not all the time on intermittent, but all the time on constant, it cracks into the windscreen surround and jumps over it, is there some way of adjusting it?
cheers in advance peeps.

You can move the wiper arm on its spline drive where it is bolted on at the scuttle.
Remove the plastic cover and then use a 13mm socket to remove the nut. Then apply a downward pressure on the spring joint and at the same time lift the arm where you have just removed the nut.
Reposition the arm on the spline and put back together and try it.

Remove the wiper from the control arm and reposition it slightly so as to prevent it hitting the side of the screen.

It does sound like there is a little wear in the linkage, perhaps.  Is it worse when on fastest speed?

But, before doing so check the mechanism fixings are all nice and secure and havn't worked loose.

check the mechanism on top of the wiper motor - the nut that you can see sometimes comes loose - making the blade hit the bodywork on the end of its arc. Tightening the nut -if its loose is interesting iirc you also need to hold the arm connecting to the spindle that the nut fits too.  ::)Obvious when you see it impossible to describe ::)
