on a 2.5 v6 cdx, can you have the standard ecu re-mapped or would you have to buy a chip :-/
also does anyone know if the chip is soldered in the ecu or just pushed into a socket :-/
theres a chip on ebay that claims an extra 20bhp for £45 but you have to fit it yourself :-/
can anyone help? ;)

Thats just rubbish, it just fools the ECU into thinking the air outside is cold, so the ECU puts more fuel in.
The ECU soon re-learns. Waste of money those chips.
Either get MTek or Superchips

Hi pal. Give these guys a call, R&M Motors at Mansfield. So a quick trip down the Mental 1 (M1) for ya. Their No's 01623 810585.
Mines going in shortly for the same thing "POWER".
Their friendly, helpful & reasonabley priced, so can't be bad.
I did some home work & these guys where cheaper than other's.They've done work for me before & have been around for some years now. HTH :y

and the one on ebay is supposed to be a proper chip not the resister types that just confuse the ecu, but who knows? :-/

Not actually true they are a proper chip and improve fuel economy and give a slight BHP increase, the M-Tek one is no better, i have both and have swapped from one to the other and back to the GM OE one a few times now.
The proper option is a re-map which Courtenay will do, but if your car is an auto then forget it as it is near impossible to get true and constant figures off a rolling road with an auto box.

Probably will be a chip, and probably will get close to quoted improvement. You're thinking of the £10 'resistors' ;)

My 3.0 is SuperChiped (plug in type by the way) makes a slight difference, but can't honestly say it gives that extra 25 bhp. bit more torque maybe and improved MPG.
The SuperChip (Eprom) is mounted on its own circiut board with some addition micro chips? not sure if these extra bits actually do something or their just there for copyright reasons ie. (stop the Eprom from being copied).

Usually just scramble the address and data lines of the memory chip. Cheap and dirty protection, quite common.

That's wot I thought, prob good idea if there charging #400 per chip (Sorry don't have a pound sign on my PDA).

Something that old they're all copies of each other or near enough makes no difference by now anyway.
