Title: Rear suspension 2.5TD Elite.
Post by: CF on 10 March 2008, 20:30:51
Hi, I have a suspension compressor problem that seems terminal. The compressor pump appears to have failed. The price of a new one will probably send the vehicle to the scrapyard!! Can anyone tell me of any problems that may be causing the compressor to malfunction? Can service exchange units be purchased? Is there another product IE non patented parts which can be used to replace the complete shock absorbers and compressor setup? Lastly. can the compressor be removed along with the shock absorbers and then replaced with the shocks from another model - without the self leveling components?
I am rather hoping someone out there has the knowledge to put the vehicle back to work!!
Many thanks. CF

Fuse or level sensor worth checking.

Failing that, compressor from scrappy - seem to be fairly reliable normally.  Or remove the air shocks and replace with normal.

you can actually strip the compressor down!! usual cause for it failing assuming its not electrical is the ally body corrodes and gives off a white powder that gets into the filter and blocks it, easy fix when you look at it :y

Hi Thanks for the help - will strip it down asap. It does not appear to the compressor, however, but the electrical input. The compressor motor runs. What do the other wires from the 4 pin connector connect with? Does the self leveling device connect directly to it?
