Title: Omega 2.6 CDX V6 Auto
Post by: steps2914 on 13 March 2008, 17:50:44
Hi, I would like some help with central locking. Symptom - close drivers door, operate central locking. All doors lock, then immediately re-open. Have changed the driver door solenoid - OK for about 3 months during summer last year, then same symptoms recurred.

Thinking now that the door thinks it is open and therefore unlocks again? Can you tell me where the interlock switch is that tells the central locking that the door is closed?

Thanks

There are two microswitches in each door lock motor, they do start to fail with high resistance contacts. I've changed two switches in the last 7 months.

Was the motor you fitted new?

If it was used, it may have poor contacts, if new it may be one of the other doors. Of course a new one could fail early.

I think this can also happen if one of the door catches is not adjusted correctly, but I would try what the other guys suggest first - sounds like they're more experienced than I am.

This is very unscientific and may be a red herring, but I had this problem on my 2.0l estate which disappeared when I operated the tailgate lock with the key a few times. Not happened since.

Shyboys unscientific method worked on my old ford galaxy. central locking used to switch on then off then on then off and so on about a dozen times (only in the summer though) and only using the remote. it was fine when i used the key. did the same (stuck the key in the tailgate and opened then closed a few times(spraying loads of WD40 in) Hey presto it was sorted. never played up again right up to selling it a year later
hope this helps mate

Science does have its uses Shyboy, Nuke's, Anthrax and of coarse speed camara's. Dont know about magic fingers though mate, i'm just too lazy to strip down all the door cards to find out which one is playing up. Always take the easier way me... Got lucky that time
