Hi all in the middle of doing a cam belt change (first one i've ever done) and carnt get the cam to line up with the crank.
When the crank is locked to the water pump (think this is called t.d.c)the cams are about 2 teeth out to the right on cam's 1+2 and about the same on 3+4 PLEASE HELP........

You need to bring them back using the tensioners, do one side then the other then tighten back up, turn the crank a couple of turns see if they are still out, time consuming job, but really worth taking your time to get them spot on :y

If I remember right, there should be marks on the new belt. Start at the crank pulley, and work anti-clockwise around the pulleys. You will probably have to adjust the first adjuster just above the crank and the pulley between the two centre cams to line up the rest. What ever you do, turn the engine by hand a couple of full turns before trying to start it.
If it locks up, do not force it, go back to the begining and start again.

You won't be able to bring the teeth around by three teeth using the idlers, it sounds like it's slipped on the crank on the first rotation or something...

Once i have done this can i then take the old belt off and carry on. It does look like it may have slipped a tooth or two when vauxhall did it last time.
