ok i see this on the site short ones long ones everyone has got them but what are they
-
bloody great silver thing on the top of your v6 ;)
-
so how can you have different ones and what does this do how do you know sorry if it sounds dim

They lengthened the plenum on the later model (98-99) Omega 3.0 engines...apparently gives more torque in lower gears...

Right, not to detailed here but.
A plenum is quite simply a chamber used to reduce pulses of air and allow air to spread easily over an area.
They are actualy used in many things, they often appear in front of powerful cooling fans to distribute the swept air from the blades over a wider area etc...
In the case of an engine, it allows the pulses from the pistons to be better handled and reduces the tendancy for one piston to pull air from another chamber etc.
In theory, the bigger the better but, they are tuned on engines to give torque at different rpm.
