Title: earthing point 2.016v

where are the earth points ie engine to the body starter is very sluggish when cold but worse when hot have checked battery and all is fine Is this a sign that starter is on its way out

to check your earth if you have a test meter, select dc volts, put leads on battery neg and the other on the block, crank the engine .the meter should not read more than half a volt. if its higher check all the earths. to locate the fault

thanks will try that tomorrow any idea how much a new starter is ? ::)

you can do the same test on the live side cables , batt plus to starter main connection, this will help to eliminate any faulty cables or connections before you spend any cash.   hope this helps

Also worth checking for heat. Any bad connection will warm up, either while attempting to start or also when engine is running and the current from the alternator is being carried. Check the battery terminals as often the wire crimps into the terminal body work loose.
