Title: cam belt part 2
Post by: gstylebaby on 16 March 2008, 18:10:46
O.k think my cam's are out by two teeth and the crank is now locked up in place i have got the dvd by robin hood and watch it over and over and when the cams are adjusted on the dvd the pulley is adjusted anti clock wise and the cams turn clock wise but mine is out the wrong way so can i turn the pulley clock wise(witch would turn the cam's anti clock wise) and turn them backwards or can i just keep going till they come round witch would mean a full 360 degrees.............

If it's only two teeth, I would turn the crank clockwise until they are in the right place, then lock the cams. Then pop the belt off, and rotate the crank two teeth to TDC, and start the belt fitting process from scratch...

I'm not sure its two teeth on the crank it is two teeth out on all four cam's.

Then is has slipped two on the crank  (hence why it's out on ALL cams) - it would only be on one pulley, if it was a cam slip.

Right i get what you mean can i still do what you said the cam's get both set's (1+2 and 3+4) in place and then pull belt off and adjust crank to tdc then fit new belt and then should i turn the crank (once its all correctly timed) by hand to make sure its o.k?

;D Good luck with your cam belt. If Vauxhall set it up that far out before hand I'm sure the difference will be quite noticably.

Hi,
I would be turning the crank by hand several times and double and even treble checking !!

The first cambelt change is always the worst. If what youv'e done is the same as the DVD shows, then trust yourself.

Hope it all goes OK

Roger
