Does anyone know where I can get the fault codes from for my 1998 2.0 auto.
Car would not start as if immobiliser was on, then it fired and eml came on. On paperclip test it came up with 0130 & 0335.
Can anyone help please :'(

I dont have either of those codes on my sheet??
Are you sure you have read them correctly?

Yes, Im positive they are correct, I read repeated them 5 times

0335 is crank sensor - that would make difficult to start (though not impossible on 4 pots). Need to look up 0130 - sounds a bit MAF'y

Could they be 13, 33, 5?

13 O2 Sensor 1 Open Circuit
33 Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve Voltage Low

Ahhha found them on topbuzz. Yes your right it is the Crank Sensor and the O2 Sensor.
The crank sensor the one down behind the power sterring pump if my memory is correct?????
Lord knows why the O2 sensor came on though??

No, though the 2 digit codes (used on pre 97 2.0 and pre 2001 v6) are different to 4 digit codes.

Well I managed tp get the old girl running, all be it 40 turns of the key but she started. Did the paperclip test as listed earlier and found crank sensor and o2 sensor. Went back out as needed to go out in it (family emergency). Had sma problem, but it did start eventually.
Went were I was going was there 2 hours came out and it started first turn of the key?????
Have got a spare crank sensor so think I will change this tomorrow anyway just to see if it makes a difference.

I reckon changing crank sensor will make a big difference ;)

Am I right in saying that the crank sensor is the one situated behind the power steering pump (cable running over the top of the head and down past thermostat housing)??
Which is the easiest way to remove this??? Is it best to remove the power steering pump??

No idea, never looked for one on a
starter motor 2.0 before

its quite easy if you do it from under the car and you dont have to remove anything. If you havn't got aircon its a doddle

Mine has aircon and I know that makes it more difficult. To be honest Ive not had a look from underneath yet. Will run it up on the ramps in the morning as Ive just been informed that I have to go no Norfolk on Wednesday, so I definatly dont want this happening then!!
