Title: squeak when i press the clutch pedal
Post by: joffy on 26 March 2008, 12:30:01
my omega makes a squeaking noise whn i press the clutch pedal down...thought it was thrust release bearing at first but had a clutch and bearing fitted and its still happening...have been told now its prob cos crank is moving...engine has 230k on it...just wondering will something like "motor up" or slick 50 cure it....not looking for long term as i just want to sell it!!

have you checked for any trapped mice.   seriously have you tried greasing all the part at the top of the clusch pedal, i had the same prob on my granny, ford said needs new gear box, tried greasing things up and it worked, was the damn spawl n ratchet thingy, i hate rippoff garages like ford. >:(

the squeak stays on when the pedal is down and definately coming from the engine bay...was a bit gutted when i picked up car from clutch place and it was still making the noise!!!!

Sounds like the thrust bearing which i bet they never changed...... you say that you have had the release bearing replaced though...correct?

No, the release bearing is the big one that pushes on the clutch plate, and the thtust bearing is the one that sits in the end of the crankshaft to stabilise the end of the gearbox main shaft. Thats the one that goes on high mileage stuff ;)
