Title: buzzing under rear seats?
Post by: tommycon on 12 March 2008, 16:58:46
hope i`m not boring you all on here with this problem,,, just cant get my head round it,,
i`ve mentioned on previous topics that my battery seems to be being drained by something,, firstly i thought it was the level pump as it was working all the time even with car turned off( after advise from DTM i took the relay out)
now the battery as gone flat again,,, jumped it and checked the voltage ,, only 12.8v,,( maybe the flat battery was draining some of the charge?) after fully charging the battery and restarting the car i got a very good 14.4v,,
while tinkering away i noticed a buzzing from under the rear seat this was before i even put the key in,, could this be from the heated element bit?? looking at the rear switches they are slightly lit and if i pressed one they both light up,, i took the fuse out and the buzzing stops and the switches go out,,,
i could just undo the heated seats but really need to find out why its doing it,,,
the only thing i can think of is when i bought a new battery for it ,,, the bloke in shop plugged a charger type thing it the cigarette lighter so i wouldnt loose my code on the radio,,, without thinking i turned the car off,,, but it kept running,,while the charger was plugged it, maybe i damaged something????
again i`m sorry for going on but would really welcome any ideas on this matter,,,

The rear seats are heated via a relay. Maybe that. I don't know where it's located though.

I've never had the need to look for mine. I'm sure though that if someone had access to TIS they'd be able to find out for you.  ;)  :y

Release rear seat – see operation "Rear Seat, Remove and Install" in group "C". Push back floor carpet from heel plate.

Detach clip (1) from heel plate. Remove relay (2) from heel plate opening. Remove relay from relay base.

  Install

Insert relay into relay socket. Insert relay into heel plate aperture and fasten to heel plate with clamps. Install floor carpet. Rear seat

My guess is the part under the seat where your heel would hit when sat down ???

I just copy the words/pictures .. don't always understand them .. but they usually make sense when you get the bit of paper against the part of the car described ... so once the seat is out you'll probably recognise the holes shown in the picture .. and find the relay fairly easily ...

Sounds like an earthing fault to me.....which incredibly is on the passenger side A pillar!

Check also the relay and loom connectors.
