On starting from cold there is a hollow rattling coming from under car. :-?Have had a quick look under and it seems to be coming from the 2 boxes on the exhaust (cats I think??) any ideas?? It lasts for about 30 secs but its quite loud!!
Thanks :y

Usual source of rattles is the tin heat shields around the exhaust downpipes, they tend to rust away around the welds. If loose try putting a jubilee hose clip on to hold them in place.

Its coming from rear end of car by what I think are the cats. :y

The cats are the first boxes after the engine, if the noise is from the next pair of boxes then its probable that the internal baffles have rotted and are loose. Time for another exhaust.

Its not doing it any more. Not heard it at all today. :-?

If the baffles have gone you may see some "hair" coming from exhaust, if you do get it changed sharpish :y

No hair. might of been something else. She is going on ramps sat so will have a thorough look then. :y
