my car is a 1995 low milage 2.0 16v omega the problem is when i start it up in the morning it sounds like a tractor for about 3 secs then just a quite camy noise for about 10 mins then engine sounds fine the camy noise i can live with but the other sounds bad only had car for about 5 weeks and the previous ower had put castrol magnetic 10w 40 oil in it as a recept in hand book about a month before i bought it and he gave my a litre top up bottle so 2 weeks ago i change the oil for texaco muilt grade oil but still sounds same but if i turn engine over about 3 times with out it firing it sounds better just woundering about using oil tretment or is it somthing else

I would try a couple of quick oil changes say every 1k miles instead of a flush. GM semi synthetic oil from a dealer with a trade card is cheap as are the filters. It might improve matters. Otherwise, it's likely the hydraulic lifters need to be removed and cleaned.

At that age, the lifters wont be the later non-bleed down type so cleaning might help but dont expect miracles.
The Wynns lifter treatment does seem quite effective though but, onld add it to fresh good quality new oil.

do the lifters and cam need to be changed if i go down that route if so is it a easy job as ive ownly done pug and rover heads and plenty of vauxhall cav /carlton ohv heads also cost of parts any ideas welcome.thanks
