Just turned on my aircon for the first time in ages and the fans immediately turned themselves off. Battery light came on and the power has disappeared from speedo clocks. Turned the engine off then back on and now have no lights or power on the speedo clocks. :'( I thought the drive belt had probably snapped but it hasn't and turning everything as it should. Any ideas? I'm about to go and check for a blown fuse but has anyone experienced this before and knows the cause and a solution?
Thanks in advance...

Sounds like the ignition supply fuse (no. 15?) has gone. I suspect something in the air con circuit has shorted.
Time for some electrical detective work... ::)

Brilliant Kevin, thanks for the rapid response. An afternoon of fun for me then!

Best go and buy a handful of fuses!
Failing that put a couple of headlamp bulbs in parallel and connect them in series with the fuse, so when it shorts the lights light up brightly and save the fuse. :y
You'll need to avoid turning on any of the heavy loads on that circuit, but I suspect the air con only drives a couple of relays from that circuit so it should be a good diagnostic tool.

You were spot on, fuse 15 was blown. Just changed it and everything working again including the air con. Air con's not really a necessity in Scotland as you can probably imagine but it's nice to have everything working as it should. I'll keep my fingers crossed for the meanwhile and hope that this doesn't happen again. If it does at least I'll know where to look. Thanks again, top advice. :y
