A vehicle advertised is described as idling low and seller says it doesnt effect use and could be a police setting part of the remapping :-/ ?????
Is there a common fault that could give the car these symptoms and should I stay well clear.
Thanks in advance

What vehicle? Which engine? Idle RPM? Air conditioning compressor running or not? Does it compensate for electrical loads?
500 RPM idle is not unreasonable with A/C off, 650 or so on.

The seller seems genuine, certainly comes accross that way. The idle isn't low compared to my 3.2.
Not sure about the oil pressure light thing.
Do a search on here for "plod"; it is an oft discussed topic. I'm pretty sure that the engine is not mapped any differently and that "roar when you open it up" he talks about is not that unusual for a 3.0 or 3.2 V6.
The suspension is something I think that they do "beef up" for police cars, but I'm not sure about the brakes. The only way to go as far as I know on the front brakes is the GTO or Monaro GM brakes which are 4 pot at the front. There's not a lot wrong with the standard brakes to be honest. In general I think that the general consensus you might get from here is "avoid ex-plod", but that's not something I know much about.
I'm surprised it isn't manual though.

"the engine idle speed is set lower than usual at just over 500rpm on the rev counter, probably plod setup to save fuel whilst waiting to knab us. As a result, if the engine is above half on temperature gauge (still within normal range, it does not overheat at all), the oil pressure light can flicker. "
Cobblers - utter bullsh*t!
500rpm is ok/normal for V6 with a/c off. Oil pressure light flickering could well be bad news - low oil pressure!

Walk away ... quickly !!!! :)
That idle speed is correct, the oil problem is not ... and the guy is bulls****g ... so he probably knows what the problem is and trying to get rid of the car......
Could well be a VERY expensive fix IMHO

Thanks for confirming my suspicions :y
