OK, if I have a decent elite 2.5 V6 estate (facelift - 2000/2001) and want to add / change the brakes, suspension dash (and other desirable bits) etc to the MV6 stuff what's the best way to go about it and can anyone recommend someone to do it? What do you think it would cost?
-
Elite & MV6 have the same brakes.
Same suspension.
MV6 just has stiffer shocks, and springs.
-
I thought the brakes were uprated? or is that just the police cars?
Would not stiffer springs and shocks be more desirable?

All brakes are the same, thoughout the range from 1997 onwards.
Police brakes where the same too.
-
so is this not the case?

Well there is a lot of PR hype in there .... both my Omega's have had ABS and Passenger Air bags, so I'm guessing the "heavy duty brakes and suspension" might just be the "normal" brakes fitted to a powerful car that weighs 1.8 Tonne .. especialy as the engine is the same as the one in this beast ..and it stops damned fast !!
-
Thats plod spec, retail spec is much different.
Plod have stronger springs, but from we have seen brakes are standard. Maybe better discs and pads than OEM fit, thats it.
There is no point transfering brakes from an MV6 to yours, its all the same, same calipers, shoes ect.

Tuck-shop, does the MV6 facelift saloon have self-levelling suspension like the Elite, but just a bit stiffer and lower?

MV6 Saloon won't have it, unless it was added. It was an optional extra.
Estates had them as standard due to loads. All Elites had them as standard.

but back to the original idea.............
An elite estate with fully electric & memory leather recaro's, ugly wood infills changed - factory cd player with phone.
I'm starting to like the irmsher stuff too.
So, ............... best way to do it?

The Recaro's arn't memory and the only electric adjustment is up and down, all the other adjustments a manual :(

The sports leather seats found in the MV6, are not memory. Only manual.
You can put the seats in, but will loose, leccy and memory functions.
Do you have a donor MV6?
-
that's a bugger - one toy off the list then and now to decide leather and memory etc or recaro's
-
Thats what I have done
http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1207489624
I bought a full fat Elite then fitted the MV6 sport leather, ex police LSD and an Irmscher body kit.

No, no doner car just trying to establish if that is the better way to go or to source the bits separately........
May even consider getting someone else to do it....

It depend how much you use the memory function. I never used it so fitted the Recaros

Yea, your right but if the toy was available I would have liked to go there.........

is your interior (dash plastic dark?)
Only mods worth while imo, are the silver dash bits.
Possible sport seats, depends if you use the memory settings or not.
The interior in my facelift is cream, so no point for me...
MV6 is basically CD spec, so its just trim changes really.

I think that was why I was looking at the changes. The wooden inserts and dash surround look a little dated to me and the carbon look or the silver would be better.

Carbon effect is only in pre-facelift.
Facelift its the silver dash.
i would like the silver bits, but not sure how it would look in a light coloured interior :-/

Its been changed at some point then.
Standard MV6 dash in the facelift is silver

Yep, by me; my point being that you aren't limited to the off-the-shelf options of MV6 silver, Elite wood, or CD greyish black.
Is that mini facelift carbon effect steering wheel compatible with a face-lift car? Do you know if they ever came in the dark grey too rather than pure black?

How did you get the trim strips on the door off? I assumed they where glued on?
Are they whole new strips or had transfers put on?
Btw, do you happen to know if the lower part of the cards can be removed? The section around the speakers, and that run the lower part of the door?
I noticed on post 2002 facelifts, with light coloured interiors, the lower parts where replaced with dark cloth, to hide the static speaker circles that you get after a while with the ligher interior.

Sorry, this isn't going to be much use to you, but they are Elite wood strips which have not left the door card, nor has the door car ever been removed from the door, so I don't know the answers to most of your questions.
They are that shrink to fit sticky back plastic. It took about half an hour with a craft knife, hairdryer and stready hands. They do look very convincing, even sitting in the car.
I don't suppose you know the answer to that steering wheel question do you? I'd love an Irmscher sportier steering wheel with the switches, but not with the silver or wood. That one in your picture looks perfect, but is it "black" or really dark grey like my interior?
Do you you know if they do what I'm after? I'd be happy with no coloured sections if I had to not have the carbon.

Second picture i actually borrowed from Markey Markeys gallery photos.
Its a pre-facelift Irmscher steering wheel, black leather, with the blue ish carbon effect.
Being a steering wheel don't think that heat strink type stuff would work well.
I think the above wheel is your best option...
-
I think the silver insert & dash I would like with a black leather interior........

Have a look at this thread, it has good pictures of all the facelift standard options for interior trim.
