My car is a 94 elite, ive managed to source a gearbox but its out of a 2.5v6,can i fit this to my car ?? not sure what year of car the box came out of
-
it will fit but wont last very long fella !! :o :o
-
why is that ? im undecided on what to do,repair or break the car, as its a 94 model, its very clean and the engine is A1 but its prob going to cost me more to fix than the car is worth
-
too much torque for standard ar25 wich can take 250lbft and the ar35 from the elite wich can take 350lbft thats why the bmw td breaks the ar25 after about 100k !! :y

Hi
Although I would agree that sticking an AR25 behind a hard working 3L is not a good idea, perhaps in Meanies case a cheap AR25 would get him out of trouble for a while, especially if he takes it easy and does not unduly stress the box. After all if the AR25 lasts 100k behind the diseasal even a used one may last 10k or longer behind a llightly driven 3L.
Even so, if a good cheap AR35 can be found that would be a better bet.

i have checked all the breakers in northern ireland and had no luck,at this stage im willing to pay for shipment from the mainland, anyone have any rough idea how much it might cost to get one across ??
-
dont know tbh, another thought though,do you know that the old 3.0 senator used the same box ?there may be some of those sitting in scrappys where there arent any omegas

Well weight wise they have to be well in excess of 50kg maybe more like 100Kg?? If you can find a courier that will take it, maybe on a pallet I would imagine your looking at at least £100 delivery cost...then £100 on top for the box itself...I can get you one easily enough but wouldnt really know where to start finding a courier around here to send it...
That said, just sold one to a guy from Northern Ireland who I'm meeting in Manchester to collect it...could always find out if you can pay him summat to collect another one for you if hes anywhere near you...

now that sounds like a plan, chris.imagine trying to organise something like that without knowing about the oof.

Chris that sounds good, logistically it might be a problem. if the guy you are meeting agreed to do it that would be great, you can pm me if you need any details ref payment etc.
