Title: DRIVER'S DOOR PROBLEM
Post by: zillabuggs on 28 April 2008, 13:17:17
Hi everyone, as you can see I'm a newbie. I just bought a 2.0 GLS automatic omega. Love driving it BUT, it has got a nasty problem which has come to light. Whilst driving along the road yesterday, I heard a kind of bang. Didn't know what it was until driving round a roundabout the driver's door flew open! Today, driving the car to work (a 38 mile journey) the door opened 6 times. After the first couple of times, I kind of got used to the idea it might happen so started driving with my left hand and holding the driver's door shut with my right. Obviously, this is not a safe situation to be in. Has anybody else had this problem or is this a unique thing? Incidentally, I tried locking the doors, but it still clicked and I could push the door open with my elbow. Any help or advice at all would be appreciated. Thanks.

Mine creaks & cracks at times, cured it by adjusting the striker plate on the door pillar. Yours may be more serious though, try adjusting first, if you have not already tried this.

Thanks Mick. Will try this and if it doesn't cure it, will bang it into local garage to see if they have any ideas.

Mine did exactly this, turned out the latch mechanism inside the door was worn out. Its about an hours labour plus parts, cant remember how much the parts were but £100 rings a bell...

not one I've seen before - certainly needs further investigation, but guess it has to be mechanism.
