Could some one please define the "BOSE" sound system to me.
Bose to me is the hifi company.
But Phillips and Blaupunkt are the main component suppliers
-
I might get shouted at by someone for mentioning it :-[, but there's self-levelling suspension too on the Elite (certainly later one's; not so sure of the pre-facelift).

bose system = bose power amp and bose speakers, infinitely better quality than standard fitted ones
philips and blaupunkt supply the cd changer and head unit
easy way to tell if its bose (apart from the power amp in the boot) is that the rear parcel shelf speakers will have 'bose' logo on the grilles (going by mine anyway)

:y Much Appreciated. :y
-
Had Bose in my Carlton Diplomat and must admit it was far supperior to the CDi I had before it.

:y Much Appreciated. :y
no problem. i'm sure there are others who can give you a less crude description, like the frequency differences etc, but that's the gyst of it

If you can afford it...get an elite...unless you can live without the bits...

ýeah elite if you can... look out for one with satnav and all the toys too (ctr700 or integrated carphone etc)

One main drawback of getting an Elite over a CDX is if you like a manual gearbox they are a lot harder to find in Elite format
-
is there much diff in the elite and the mv6??
richie
-
mv6 have less toys then elite,
mv6-sports seats
mv6-if is with leather only seats no side card
mv6-differences wheels
mv6-no memory seats
-
I think the suspension is stiffer on the MV6
I think most Elites have self leveling suspention, but this would be better confirmed other members. Dont know if the MV6 is self leveling.
Or was it an option on the Elite and the MV6?

MV6 is not self levelling.
All Elites post 98 had self levelling.
MV6 is basically CD spec, but with HID's and sport seats, and silver dash inserts.

Is the CDX facelift or prefacelift?

power wise is there a big difference between the 3.0 and the 2.5 ?

About 30 bhp & it's noticable! :y

Sounds a nice combination, i like the contrast of the silver with black interior :)
-
yeah i like it too,my 94 elite has the same combination,i heva slight dark tint on it and was thinking of doing the same again

Thought window tints were a big NONO in NI?? ;D

ive never had any bother yet,the psni still use omegas as the vip tranport although they are up armoured versions and people always give me a 2nd look when i pass, mot wise its a no no as the old tint meter will most def be produced but thats the only hurdle,as long as they areny limo black it fine

I guess the peace process has had an added dividend then, which is nice ;)

a few years ago id say if you went through the wrong area you might get a brick through the window, but not now its def changed and for the better, the police tend to use vr32's passats and the odd focus st as pursuit cars nowadays
-
price wise how much do you all think an 02 2.5cdx is worth, yrs mot and tax ,clean with a good history ??
-
Would that be a 2.6 on an 02?
-
no a 2.5 on a 00 plate
-
no a 2.5 on a 00 plate
I suppose it depends where it is sold, if on the Bay then maybe 1000-1400 or so.

Whilst agreeing with a lot of the previous comment I must say that the 2.5 V6 CDX I bought recently I find an absolute pleasure to drive, and BETTER than the 1996 3.0 Elite I used to own, but there again it was of course pre-facelift. The CDX does lack the memory seats; heated seats in the rear; the self dipping mirror; the satnav and integral phone, but frankly I am NOT missing these at all as it has everything else you really require.
Nor am I missing the 30 bhp differrence in power strangly as when I require the power the 2.5 still pushes a considerable punch. I do love speed, in the right place, and have taken the Elite up to and held 150 on a number of (clear motorway!!) ocassions, but how often do you really need to do that? Overtaking in the 2.5 is superb, with again the power there in spades. With petrol increasing rapidly and the road tax threat now firmly there, these factors I also considered when buying the year 2000 CDX.
So in conclusion although, yes undeniably, the Elite is certainly a great car, and if one suitable had been available I could well have been tempted to buy it, I am nowhere near feeling disappointed with the CDX! :y :y So if you have a good example in your sights as I did go for it, at the right price of course! :y :y
On the question of price I found my immaculate example, 104k on the clock, but full dealer service history, new brakes, exhaust, tyres, cam belt, year's MOT, six month warranty, at a dealers for £2,495. This I negotiated down to £2000, but probably still paid too much in today's trading climate. However at this price I did get everything intact and immaculate, the all important fdsh, with the new forementioned 'bits'. If you hunt around there must be others at very good prices in this buyers market! :y :y
-
Can't you get a 2.5 Elite? At least in the facelifted versions? Might be one to look out for.
Humpy
-
dont forget, if you like the look of it, the mini-facelift elite has an awful lot more on it than the pre-facelift elite. it isn't necessarily as cut and dry as pre and post facelift with these cars!
:y
-
my car is a facelift estate a
2.5 manual elite with all the toys inc phone and i love it
worth the extra cash over a cdx anyday
-
my cdx has leather/heated :y

He is in NI, price of Omegas where is almost 5 times what is here.
We can't really give an accurate price for cars in Northern Ireland, i remember posts of people buying very old shape ones for lot more than we do!
-
i find n.i. prices very similar to here on the mainland.i think the republic of ireland is a different story though.
-
My MV6 has
Self leveling sus and all the toys off the elite except rear blind
EX BT Senior Managers car even hass all the options except Rear blind
And its a Manual 3.0 i am told these are very rare???
i did also retrofit bose into it as it originally had a CCR600

If that is the case it is worth travelling over to the UK and buying an Omega here then!
;) ;)

thats the plan,i cant find any good ones over here
-
Hmm. This is interesting topic as we don´t have that elite here in Finland.
I think MV6 could be bought here with all elite toys as option...
I have an -98 MV6 and it has xenons, navi, climate control, electric seats (no leather and no memory), that electric sun blind at back window, cruise, heated seats, and probably something that i don´t remember.
And yes, it´s with manual gearbox...

i seem to recall the Opel MV6 is near Vauxhall Elite spec...

Yes, by the sounds of it that is your best option whether or not you buy a CDX or Elite :y

I'm a little confused here; I thought that MV6 cars had stiffer and slightly lower springs, but this one has self-levelling too.
I was told, in overtly strong and no uncertain terms, not to try putting MV6 springs onto my self levelling Elite. :-/

I wonder if the MV6 just gets Elite spec. suspension if self levelling is specified?

I'd like to know the real, and definitive truth here. I had conflicting advice on this from another source too: Tony at WIM said doing this with MV6 springs would be fine, but there you go ::)

I would have thought the MV6 shocks are firmer though. You'd need to adjust the "aiming point" of the self levelling so it's not constantly trying to pump it up to elite ride height too. Might just be a case of adjusting the sensors, maybe not...
I guess you'd need to comparte part numbers between the models and see what is different, and if any self levelling parts are specified for MV6 models.

Any ideas on where to start looking for the part numbers between the two cars?
I read on a site that the MV6 is 15mm lower too, but I want to find that out for sure too.
I had factored in the adjsutment to the self levelling sensor, but if it turns out that the shocks on a self-levellign MV6 are different then I would't mind replacing the lot.
My problem is finding someone who KNOWS the differences and I'll do it properly. There are lots of people with opinions, most of whom disagree or, at least, conflict.
I could go for an aftermarket sports suspension kit, but they all seem to lower the car by a minimum of 30mm which is too much.

EPC is a great for comparing different parts...

EPC is a great for comparing different parts...
Do any members have access to a legitimate EPC for the omega range that they could look the difference in the springs and shocks and respective part numbers up on?

wont tell you the difference is spec, hence why I haven't already. remember, epc is a simple tool for dealers to get like for (factory fitted) like ;)
