Hi All,
Had to change a tyre yesterday and noticed significant movement in the front nearside wheel. This was horizontal movement as opposed to vertical movement. Searching through the forum suggested various could be's, most likely being a steering idler. Before I go and get the part, thought I would check with you first :)
Many thanks,
Mark

The wheel is moving back and forth? Sounds like wishbone bushes to me...
Just out of interest, how can you tell a worn idler? Imho it'd feel like a play in steering?

Find the cause of the movement before spending on parts.
Get someone to rock the steering wheel whilst you reach underneath at all the ball joints and the idler pivot....any play should be obvious. Note you should do this with the engine running to eliminate slack in the power steering box so make sure it cant move!!
Other possible source of play is a completely shot front wishbone bush...should be obvious if you apply a little leverage.

You could always put your 'numpty hat' on & ask at somewhere like ATS or Kwick-Fit to stick it on the ramps & have a look for you. If you go when they're quiet ....
