Consensus on here is usually to buy from Vx using a trade club card.
Ex cats, should come in around £250 or so.

Stick with Vauxhall, it will last alot longer and sound better. If theres someone near you with a Trade Card it wont be much dearer than a pattern part :y

i went with non vx cos the garage that fitted it gave me a 3 year warranty

Well in the book silencer and tailpipes are £154 retail, £97.11 trade club...
But is that just for one side or both?

I think that is just the rear bit LK. You need the 2 centre sections as well. (3 bits in total for a cat back system)

They quoted me £389 for a full stainless steel system from the cats back. or £489 for a dual exit. That includes fitting.
ok so it's a mod to declare to your insurance co but exhaust changes only cost me £35 a year on elephant.co.uk
I haven't had mine done yet but my brother had them do his alfa 156 2.5 v6. They've done a beautiful job and although he only asked for a 'medium loud' exhaust the sound is incredible.
Highly recommend them based on the quality of the job they did on my bro's car.
one thing to watch out for though, they like to stick a small 'longlife' sticker to the bumper above the tailpipe(s) you could probly tell them not to though.

Well each to his own, but in terms of long life , the Vx original ones are hard to beat. The one on my CDX lasted 6 years before needing replacing.
And you could get a twin tail Vx system fitted I reckon with change from £300.

You recon on an OEM mild steel cat-back system lasting better than a hand-wound stainless one? It'll never rust :y

I didn't actually say that, but I do think the gen Vx one would likely outlast your '99 car. and your stainless one is costing £200 quid more up front and £35 a year ::). As I said each to his own :y
-
good point lol
It's equally the nice burbly rumble and shiny chromed tailpipes that makes me want to do it as it is the longevity :D
I already pay £35/year on insurance becoz the previous owner spent £400 on a sabrepower stainless backbox (the idiot left the rest of the exhaust a pattern part mild steel one derr)
When I do get around to replacing the exhaust (assuming i can fix my coolant leak before the car blows up) I shall be selling the nice stainless sabrepower backbox second hand for a nice cheap price :)
Incidentally, How can they do a dual exit in a satisfactory manner? the pipe would have to go right under the fuel tank :-?

I assumed by dual exit, they meant the twin pipes off the back box that the 3.0 has..? Lot of dosh for just that though.
