Sometimes when I start from cold I get a tappety rattle - sounds a bit like a diesel. Goes away after a few seconds and I never get it when the engine is warm. Cambelt and kit changed about 12k miles ago.
I assume its a lazy lifter being slow to pump up (Im no expert so excuse me if that doesnt make sense!) is it easily fixed ?
Cheers

It does sound like a stickey/lazy/old lifter.
When was the oil and filter last changed??
What oil are you using??
-
Surely that would be the hyd-lifters?
-
Might also be worth checking the exhaust manifold gasket.
-
I get exactly the same.

You can try couple of oil changes and some oil treatments. If it soon goes away I'd live with it. TO change you have to find the faulty one which normlay means replacing all 24. WHich means removing inlet, cam covers, cambelt and lifting all 4 cams. THey cost around about 8 quid each unless you buy them from vauxhall and they want about 33 quid each!!!! Ultra parts can supply original ones from the company inea (crap spelling probably wrong)

last service 2k miles ago by independant garage , only just had the exhaust replaced so could be a manifold gasket. I guess i will wait and see if it gets worse....
