hi guys - im in the market for a new omega at the minute. I know cars pretty well and have done a lot of research - i know cruise control came as standard on the CDX models, but im finding that the CD model is about 1k cheaper. The only thing distinguishing the two as far as I am concerned is cruise control, so, a question for you...is it possible, and if so, how hard/expensive is it to retrofit cruise control to a CD?
thanks for any help, will post pics of the beast up when i've finally got hold of one!

dead easy. there is a how to on here
short answer is: 2.5, 3.0 and 2.0 models: actuator, stalk, clutch and brake switch
2.2, 2,6, 3.2 : stalk, clutch switch, brake switch and a quick chat with mr TECH2 and you're there

depends if your looking a DBW engines (2.2/2.6/3.2)
If so, all you need for cruise is a new stalk, with the cruise button, and a tech2 enable!
All it is a computer setting to turn cruise "on"

i'm looking at the 2.2 model
and, showing my omega ignorance here - but what/who is TECH2?

Tech II is Vauxhall's diagnostic / programming gizmo. A 2.2 is drive-by-wire so will only need the correct stalk & programming via the above Tech II

That is an easy upgrade then - 2.2s have the correct brake switch, and most 2.2s seem to have the clutch switch (if manual). Just need the stalk (£30 + VAT from dealer - don't go 2nd hand), and a chat with a Tech2 machine (http://theboy.omegaowners.com)

its most likely to be an auto model - does that change anything?
also, might as well post another question here - I've seen a lot of people on the forum refer to some models as 'migs' why is that - what does it mean?

Means no clutch switch to worry about.
Mig, miggy, mega etc are all just shortened words for Omega.

ah, so in general, its pretty straightforward - cost of a stalk and a Tech2 upgrade - about £60(ish) quid as far as I can see...?
