Title: Exhaust Hints & Tips
Post by: Jimbob on 29 May 2008, 20:02:15
Picked up the new centre sections and backbox today, gonna fit em to her new Estate at the weekend.

Any hints & tips out there?

I know the front bolts will be a bugger, and may end up drilling, been spraying with plusgas daily  :D

What size bolts do I need to connect the Centre to Fronts?  They and exhaust paste are the only things I need to pick up and I'm ready to go  :D

Cheers

Lol, Tempting, but even he in far away places knows I'm gonna have a go, his 1st piece of advice was to buy more drill bits  ;D

I've got the bug for this now, I'm ready to have a go  :D

It helps that the car is off the road, so if it takes a week, thats not a problem  ;D

from what i remember on my 2.2, all the bolts and stuff are provided (i bought from a dealer), even the gasket too.

I am just gunna keep spraying the exhaust bolts on my dads... just pray the 2 bolts come off ok...

Then its just the rubber mounts, i did the Senator zorst with Jaime, was a peice of cake!

No gaskets (using sealant anyway) and bolts, so I need to get some, have plenty of rubbers though

Vauxhall used a bit of common sense when they did the Senator's though. All the bolts bolt up through clearance holes in the cats or downpipes, so if they're solid you can just shear/saw them off & replace the bolts. In Vauxhall's infinate wisdom the Omega's exhaust is bolted via thread holes (M8 ?) in the down pipes. Good idea eh?!?

Neither this, or the last one came with gaskets / bolts (both from dealer)

Mark used sealant and had some stainless bolts that he brought down.

He should remember what I need

I used M8 studding and nuts after drilling and tapping the damaged holes.

Ohh... humm  :-/

I am 99% sure mine came with bolts!

Andy... Don't need to touch the cats or downpipes, under neath you have the flexi join thingy and that turns from passenger side towards the drivers.

Then it just bolts on?

I think the centre section is one peice on facelifts?  :-/ :-/

I think some got left out in the rain and shrunk... I've also heard some  folks seem to lose 2 cylinders with monotonous regualrity

Careless in the extreme methinks .. :(
