Title: drivers seat subsidence
Post by: Turk on 30 May 2008, 22:10:19
Has anyone else got/had a drivers seat that is/was subsiding at the rear of the seat pad. Both my Elite(Leather) and my CD (Cloth) are seem to have sagged.
Am I just unlucky or is this a common issue. I've heard somewhere that it's one of the reasons Plod stopped using them as it was causing back ache.
I'm using a foam pad at the moment. Any "Fix-it's" ?

If you compare the driver's seat with the passenger seat in some on the facelifts (over 100k admittedly) there can be a little sagging in that area sometimes. Have a sit in the passenger side to compare. Overall though, I think omega seats wear very well.

Best advice would be to source a newie from the breakers from a low mileage model.

A mate was complaining the other day of awful back ache in his Peugeot 406, said the seats were absolutely atrocious, even though  initially quite comfy, but after a while give chronic back ache due to lack of support. Now they've jsut fallen to pieces after 120K! At least they're not rock solid like the vectra or the zafira which is less comfy than the local park bench!

I had same problem with that Focus we used to own - after a 2hr drive I was knackered, and ached like hell.

My wife thinks that our old PUG 306 D-Turbo is more comfortable that my Miggy Elite.

Mind you I always said she was mad and had poor taste. That's how I managed to pull her ;D

Our Rover 25 is the same, but it could have something to do with me being a smidging over weight ::)

The passenger seat in both my Elite (225k) and my CD (96K) are both fine, but the drivers seat in both are sagging towards the rear half of then seat pad.
I've a feeling it's not the foam of the seat pad but possibly the support wiring underneath that may have stretched.
