Hi all
Still not used to the joys of driving auto... pulling off from cold in the morning, my miggy needs to reach 2000 before selecting 2nd, and there also seems to be a long gap between 3rd and 4th, fourth normally kicking in around 50mph. is this normal?
thanks in advance

Sounds normal to me......theres a delay when changing when cold......so makes it rev more....to warm the cat up faster :y

With my last 3 cars being Auto's, 2 Omega's and a Carlton, I noticed a common thing with them regards the gear change. They all made use of the Torque at low revs.
If I am right the Vauxhall Engines Maximun Torque is quite low arround the 2600 RPM mark. So if you were saying it was going above this before it changed then I would be concerned, But I think 2000 revs is making good use of the low down power so tha when it changes up the revs dont drop too low to fall below a good usable torge range, and it keeps the engine working in a range where it has the best flexibilty.

i dont like revving a cold engine(even if warming the cats quicker will save the planet)so when i start from cold, once the car is moving i put the box into winter mode for a minute and then switch winter mode off and it drives as normal. :y
