Title: Can't get into the boot...
Post by: PaulW on 30 May 2008, 22:55:46
How do

Went shopping before, and when I came to open the boot, the handle just 'clicked' and then had no tension behind it, and the boot won't open.  Sounded like a cable snapped or something.

Tried the key in the lock in multiple positions, also locked and unlocked the car, no joy :(

How can I get the boot open to sort this out?  It's a pre-facelift, so no manual release like there is in the facelifts either :(

Cheers

The boot handle on mine sticks sometimes when you open it & doesn't return properly to its rest postion, it then just needs a bit of a push to make sure it's gone all the way back. Until you do soit doesn't always unlock properly.
It's on my 'to do list' .......  ::)  :y

Meh I'm too big to be making a habit of this...

Climbed in the boot, got stuck, shredded a finger ripping the interior trim off, finally got the boot open...

It's the small lever out the back of the handle which has gone, when you pull the handle, it just comes out forward instead of pushing down onto the lock.

So, need a new handle, and possibly the actual latch part as it is quite stiff...

Meh :(
