Title: Oil in me plug holes..start of my new car problems

As the title said my new 2.5 has been running a bit shitty so i decided id see how my lil ol friends mr n mrs spark plug are doing and when i pulled out the leads its like id struck oil!! Now im not an idiot i know it could be seals and so on but id like a second or 3rd opinion!!

Whats worst case n not so bad case??? Also when i first bought her she had a leak so i banged in a gallon to get me home not even caring if i over fillled her!! Could this have caused anything?? Gonna replace the plugs tomorrow n let the oil into the cylinders to burn off!!! Thanks 4 reading ne answers will be appreciated

Its not the end of the world if you sort it NOW .. but it could get expensive if you don't.

Right now you have 2 problems .. breathers and cam cover gaskets....  leave it/drive it and you'll also add HT leads and DIS pack to that list !!  :(

Other odds and sods ... scuttle removal, plenum removal, etc etc also in the guides section.

To do the breathers and gaskets the first time allow a whole day ... :)

DON'T let the oil go in the cylindres if there is a lot you may do serious damage soak it up with kitchen towel then change the plugs, after that get the cam cover gaskets changed and clean the breathers at the same time . Use only genuine VX parts and sealents, if you want to know how to do it you will find plenty of help on the forum.

Sounds to me as though your cam cover gaskets have gone mate....
About £75 should cover the cost of Genuine Gaskets + 16 O rings + sealer...
When you do the job the breathers are a must to clean out...

Yup, I third that - real sod of a job so make sure and print the maintenance threads- follow them to the letter, plan for the required tools and be patent with your approach to the job. Did mine a few weeks ago for the first time and I swear the worse part of the job is fitting the passenger side cam cover gasket - easy to get pi$$ed off doing this.

Done the job last year - good fun :)

The driver's side is easier than the passenger's side, but not too big a job as such, and everything is reasonably accessible.

However, the instructions given in the Maintenance Guides must be followed to the letter, especially the use of only original GM gaskets, application of the correct GM sealent in the right places only, and torqueing-down the covers at the end.

I Can't agree that it's a pig of a job -

Popping off the plenum/inlet and the camcovers is a straightforwards procedure, as long as the guide is followed properly you cannot go wrong.

The only fiddly bit is fitting the passenger cover because there's a lot in the way - but holding the cables back with zip ties or simelar will sort that.

Just to add - shoving in a "gallon" is excessive if it only needed a small top up - on the basis that it's only 1l from bottom to top of the stick. If you overfill AND you have too much crankcase pressure due to blocked breathers, then you're heading for some blown seals at best!
