Title: Air Conditioning - Low Pressure Side
Post by: Albert1 on 09 June 2008, 15:34:02
Going to be checking the pressure of the gas in the A/C system, can anyone confirm that [on the 2.5 V6] the Low pressure side is the pipe near the top of the engine, to the right of the plenum (when viewed from in front of the car looking at the engine) near the scuttle/pollen filter?

Thanks in advance.

Yep. low pressure pipe is the higher of the two in the engine bay. It;'s also the one that gets cool when air con is running.

Actual low side pressure is likely to be highly dependant on temperature but will give you an idea if there's a decent charge in it.

A full charge with a cool system (an hour or two after engine last run) will give around 75psi (engine off)
With engine and a/c running the compressor should pull this down to close to 30psi and hold a constant pressure.
