Title: How do I remove Grey MID connector?
Post by: RichardH on 09 June 2008, 12:51:42
Hi all,

I am just changing a blown bulb behind my rev counter and have all the screws for the dash removed.  I am having problems though removing the connector behind the MID.  How exactly does it come out? I am afraid to force it in case I break it.

Thanks Mark,

Bulbs now changed and working fine.  However......

I now have lost my MID.  It is completely blank.  I have checked and no pins are bent and the connector does fit back on snugly.  Still no display though.

Well I never touched the bulbs on the MID.  Just changed the ones behind the dash clocks.  Is there a fuse for the MID do you know?

Yep, It all locked back in ok.

I just did a torch test on it and the info is showing on the display alright, I just can't see it with the naked eye.  I am guessing I must have blown some bulbs somehow.  I might be able to shoot off and get some this evening.

Yup, blown the bulbs. They go fragile with age, and the stresses of removing the dash knacker them.

Yep, took a couple of bulbs out of the MID and they are blown.  Easy fix but annoying all the same!

Thanks for your help Mark, appreciate it.

Is it a bulb isue when some of the pixels dont display properly, or is it a display isue.  The car in question is a 2.5 GLS 1999 (V Plate) but I have no idea on the colour of the connecting plug.
