both keys are locked in the boot, the car is deadlocked, had rescue services try for 3 hours cant open it via door, boot release or manual boot release using long metal rods.
What do i do now??
thanks
-
Do you have a car pass? if so there should be a number on there.....
if in doubt give The Boy a PM :y
-
It looks like your only option is to pick a window
not a lot of help or what you wanted to hear but
-
Cheapest window? :(
-
Take you registration doc to a vaushall dealer and get another key. You should be able to get a bare key - without remote or imobiliser chip - its cheaper. You use this to unlock the car. Nice to know that you have a secure car isn't it.

Get a new mechanical key. Dealer can order.

If both keys are in the boot, then how come it's locked and deadlocked as well?
-
Don't break a window. It's deadlocked so you won't be able to open it from the inside either.

Facelifts allow you to 'pop' the boot from the fob with the car still locked / deadlocked.

My guess is that the car is a facelift, and had just the boot opened via the fob. Keys are then put down/fall out of pocket/etc & then the boot closed. Seen it done on a Mondeo Jag too.
Edit Bugger! Too late ...... again. ;D

But you can get to the fold a rear seat back & maybe hook keys from broken rear window. :-/

That's a bugga

hi no i dont have the car pass, lots of paperwork but not that.

there was 2 of them here and they tried and tried, and yes it is amazingly secure.

yeah that would be a last choice actually

How about this as an idea?
fathom out from a wiring diagram how to trigger the lock actuators on one of the doors. Perhaps another member (sorry need to run out of the door) can help which cables need what power. Then: carefully working in the gap between the door and the A or B pillar find a way of getting power to the right cable: should trigger the lock actuator and door opens. would probably take a while to fashion tools to work in the door gap, cut into the plastic wiring loom trunk and to cut into the right cable BUT it may just work. else take the weather strip from the top of one of the doors and try from above. again you may be in luck - I'll check in my doors
EDIT: may just work on the A pillar/front door
Good luck
-
There is a method which worked on the old Cav's when deadlocked... I won't post it in the public area but I'll PM you... But you will need to replace a few parts afterwards so it may be cheaper to break a window!
Alternatively if you ring around the local locksmiths you may find one who can either cut a key on site or, if you have a flat, laser cut type key, use something called Jigglers. They are basically a series of 30 Skeleton keys, one of which should, hopefully, work. I actually have a set somewhere from my days doing breakdowns but not entirely sure where they are!

This is probably the least painful way of getting in... You'll probably have to buy a car pass from the dealer, who should then be able to cut the bare key for you!!
-
DONE IT
had to stick a prob down the door that sent power to the door that lifted the buttons.
trouble is now i cant use my drivers door handle its not working must of been from yesterday
-
Sounds like the rod will have popped off.... Very easy to do when you're trying to break in. Whip the door card of and it'll be obvious once you're inside the door!
-
best idea is to find one of the keys, if you dont know where they are, lock the car by hand and then smash the window, then your keys will turn up as if by magic somewhere you swore you'd looked
edit: just realised you said they're both in the boot!
I locked my only key in my first omega after it fell out of my top pocket without me realising, they had to hotwire the boot wiring, but it needs a good earth to do it
-
I know you want to avoid breaking glass, but if you do is there not a manual boot opening switch on the dash board, as there is on my Facelift CDX, you can press to retrieve the keys (with the alarm ringing!)? :-?
Thats to add to all the advice you have already been given!
One things for sure it is a bugger :'( :'(, but like has already been said how did you deadlock the car with the keys ending up in the boot? :o
Hope all goes well for you whatever happens! :y

In that case, IF I remember correctly with my old 1996 Elite, is there not a key slot on the boot lid that can be picked / broken to gain access to the locked in keys? :-/ :-/ If so that is far cheaper (?) than breaking a window. :-?

how much is it for another key, i have no spare and i'll be up the creek without a paddle if i lose this one

If you just want a key to open the door most key cutters will be able to do it for relatively small money.
The thick end of a ton if you go to Vauxhall. I paid £28 for the blade bit from Vauhall a couple of years back SWBO's Astra but you then need the fob & a session with Tech II that Vx will charge you £30-40 for. Mine just cost me the blade. ::)
The Boy or Marks DTM each have a TechII though.

I sell blank blades (with transponder) for around £12. Usually costs about £2-£4 to get this mechanically cut. This allows access to vehicle, and will start it if you get transponder programmed.

Another thing... After you've removed the plastic liner, be sure to re-fit it correctly and seal it!!

Hi
The handle on the inside of the door has a soft plastic section in he front edge of hte handle. This should push off towards the frount of car - there is another screw behind this. There is also a blanking plug conceiling another screw toward the top front corner of the door but it sould like you have got this one.
If the door pannel has spring clips along the top edge. Should be able to release these by rocking the pannel from side to side while pushing up.
Hope that helps

right got it off.
peeled back the membrane plasticy stuff now what am i looking for.
as i move the door handle i can see two black clips, the left one is moving the right one isnt, they have a spring connecting them to each other, on the end of the spring going to both left and right is a metal piece about 4mm long.
on the left side this metal piece is behind the plastic (the bit that is moving when i move the door handle) on the right plastic piece, the metal is in front of the plastic piece.
is the left one meant to have the spring in front (nearest me) as at the moment it is behind, or is the right one meant to be behind as at the moment it is in front.
hope that makes sense, or is there something else that has moved?
-
Start by following the rods... I assume the inner handle is working so start by operating the one that works. Follow it to the rear edge of the door, where you'll be able to see the catch being operated. Then from there you should be able to trace a rod back to the outer handle. I expect you'll find it flapping about loose somewhere! Then it's just a case of working out where it goes and re attaching it!
If you're still stuck then you'll have to get some pictures up for up to look at!
-
hi cheers, yes the inside handle is working i can see two rods as i look at the door but they are both firm, i will take pictures later as surprise surprise its raining again.
-

Working from a distant memory, ::) ::) there should be at least 3. One from lock button to door catch, one from inner handle to catch and one from outer handle to catch.
Check for rods either dangling loose or in the bottom of the door. It's not uncommon to dislodge them when trying to force entry!

Unfortunately I'm using a mobile so I can't get a decent look at those pictures untill tonight. Hopefully someone else will be able to help before then but I'll have a look later!
I would expect the cause of your problem to be the connector between the outer handle and the catch... It may well be a very short rod which goes between the handle and a cam type connector which is attached to the door. I'm just guessing that it will have to push down on the cam type thing from above so will be attached to the top of the handle somewhere. That's where it was on the old cavaliers anyway!

Using a Nokia N73. I can they the pictures reasonably well but they are a bit small!
As for all the metal blocking your view... I know the problem! I think if you follow the rod the 2 plastic clips are on along you should find the broken bit! You might benefit from trying to get the old camera and taking a picture along the door behind the metal.

Again I'll check pictures on a bigger screen when I get home but at a glance that rod looks ok!
Can you try to get a picture of the back of the handle and the area below it please?
The end of the rod with the plastic on should sit in a round concave hole, I think, which will be below the handle. The other end will be attached to something behind the handle. If you're lucky nothing will be broken and it'll just be a real pain to get back in due to the lack of space.
I'd recommend finding a childlike contorsionist! ;D ;D :-? :y

Don't panic yet... From what I can see that rod looks fine! I have managed to just knock this rod off on cavaliers and vectra's when trying to force entry for locked out customers...
If you can try to get the other pictures from behind the metal it'll be really helpful!
Hopefully I'll be able to have a good look for you before 8.

Right... I've had a look and tried to get perspective on what goes where... I've edited the 2 pictures I think are relevant and hopefully I've got the right bits!!!
This looks like where the metal end threads through
http://www.flickr.com/photos/24961476@N08/2546280576/
And this looks like the end with the plastic 'plug'
http://www.flickr.com/photos/24961476@N08/2546280500/in/photostream/
Check whether that seems right... You should be able to hold the rod up inside to check. You'll have to try and pop the red plastic bit out (from pic 1) I expect to be able to get the bar through.
You should be able to see where you need to go because pic 2 is definitely where the end with the plastic lump goes (I'm 99.9% sure of this!!)
Sorry it took so long but had a disaster when I got home... The chest freezer has been fried today and tripped all the power off at home... Took about 45 minutes to track down what was wrong!!!
[edit]I couldn't get the pictures to appear either!!!! I'll have to have a play at a later date.[/edit]
-
This is so frustrating because I could probably fix it for you in a matter of minutes now you have the door card off!!! It's really hard to explain and get perspective!!
I know exactly what it'll look like but it's hard to get it from the pics!!
If you hold the rod in the socket you should be able to see where the wire end belongs by a process of elimination... i.e. where there's a hole for it to go through and it will reach!!
I hope you manage to get it fixed tomorrow afternoon! :y :y :y

great thank you so much for your help, gonna have a cuppa now, son to school at 12.30 then post office then home have a quick go at it and then ill have to pick him up again.
-
right, well where do i start?
I have found the locations thanks to your help.
i can get the white plastic thing in the hole, plus a few times have got the small rod onto the red pin thing have moved the handle and a few times the rod moves up the red pin and a few times the white thing pops out its hole.
there is just no room to maneuver its a case of using your fingers not your hands.
(1) i am not sure if i am putting it into the red pin correctly
(2) i am not sure if i am putting the rod into the white thing, does it just rest in there or should it click or something?
-
i would really like to take out the red pin does it come out and does it come easily if it does?
is it easy to buy one if it breaks?
-
Lol.....when you insert the rod into the white bush you then need to rotate the bush as it has a plastic clip that locks onto the rod.
-
You probably need to get the red pin out... It may even be in 2 halves because i would imagine it goes over one on the bends in the rod. If the red pin breaks you can probably still get the rod through the hole you've taken the pin out of and get some tape round it to secure it.
Bear in mind that the rod may well need a little adjustment as it could have been bent slightly! :o :o

Glad to see you adding to my advice Mark... I think it's about 7 or 8 years since I had to play inside a Vauxhall door and I've been trying to remember how/where it all goes! ::) ::) ::) :y :y :y
-
Just wandering how this is going?? Have you got working door handles yet?? :-? :-?
-
Just wandering how this is going?? Have you got working door handles yet?? :-? :-?
JUST DONE IT !!!!!
-
Thank you all so so so so so much, you are stars I have done it !!
basically the red pin, instead of sticking the rod in the right hand side, which i guess is the correct side i just pushed it into the left side, the bit that physically is holding the pin in the hole and it fitted in there.
And its working :):):):)
my rear view windows even worked for a minute !! now they stopped again seems to be a faulty child lock on the drivers door.
-
Pleased to hear it's all working again!!
As for help... That's one of the reasons we all joined here... To share and assist!! :y :y :y :y :y

guess what ITS GONE AGAIN.
This time its worse. every time i press the fob to unlock all the doors they relock again, i can open all the doors except the drivers door if i open it fast enough.
but i cant even open the drivers door from inside now.
-
got the bloke down from SJB, he managed (i dont know how) to get his hand in the door card and open i, took an hour or so but he opened it, put it all back and checked it, plus he can fit it a side wing for £80 + part, considering 2 garages have quoted me £280 and £230 this seems amazingly cheap.
-
If he gets the side wing from a scrap car second in matching colour then £80 would seem reasonable as they only bolt on anyway...
-
I had a similar problem with my mutant Cavalier...would lock itself a second or so after you unlocked it...removed some dodgy and unnecessary wiring to an unused airhorn and problem solved...i.e. bad earthing...
