Is there anyone in Reading that has removed the plenum on a V6 that might be able to help me this weekend as I want to decoke the plenum and throttle body of all the black deposit crap? Any help would be appreciated.

lots of wynns carb cleaner :y

It's absolutely straightforward. Just don't drop anything into the inlets while the plenum is off. Stuff each with kitchen roll. Don't forget to clean out the idle control valve as well and the pipes in the plastic case running over the top of the plenum. There is a 'how to' in the maintenance section somewhere

Got plenty of carb cleaner, so no worries there!

I would like to thank Markjay for the how to on removing the plenum on a v6. Decided to take the plunge and do this myself. With the help of the instructions, which are very easy to follow, I managed to remove all the parts to enable me to remove the plenum. Once I had removed the plenum I then removed the throttle body to give it a proper clean. I had bought 10 cans of carb cleaner and used 6 on the throttle body and the plenum.
Throttle body came up trumps as for the plenum itself well I got some of it clean but not all but it will do. Whilst I was at it I also cleaned the black eco bit on top of the plenum as well and christ the black crap that came out of that so should be all nice and clean even unblocked the two small holes.
Now the car sems to idle at the right speed (500 rpm) and seems to have no more hesitation when blipping the throttle.
So I would like to give a big thank you to Markjay, without the How To I would not have attempted to do this by myself.

Nice one :y
In fact, thanks to all of the guys who have taken the time to create the 'how to's - I feel much more confident with the guides. :y :y :y

you'll be surprised at how quick you can get the plenum off and on after a few times of doing it. just be careful with the bolts, it being aluminium and all...

Hope she"s been trouble free for you. :)

instead of buying cans of carb cleaner try a 5ltr tin of thinners.youll notice its pretty much the same stuff and a tad cheaper.

I can get things like that really cheap from work. I work for a parts distribution centre.
