Title: MPG on LPG extremely low
Post by: mark.adams on 21 June 2008, 09:10:57
I just worked out my mpg to and from work (60 mile round trip) and it seems to be 17 mpg on LPG. I only worked it out as i seem to be getting through an awful lot of LPG all of a sudden.
Is there something in particular that would cause this that i could take a look at? I'm fairly sure i don't have a leak as LPG stinks and i'm sure i would smell it.

Thats my thrashing on LPG consumption.

20mpg on petrol equivalent

Check for leaks regardless.

What system is it?

It's a BRC, italian system, not multipoint injection either.
The MID reckons 31mpg though, i'm thinking i'm being diddled at the pump and not getting what i'm paying for.

On a run I get about 23mpg.......15mpg if i dont get out of town....MID usually claims about av 19mpg.

As to wether you getting fiddled at the pump........you know how much it can take from empty to full (mine is 38L) so let it run out and fill it right up....then you'll know how much the pump reckons its put in  ;)

Intresting, I didn't think the MID would work with LPG, just assumed it was still calculating the Petrol being used (or what it thinks is being used) when your running on LPG?

Try a different pump and see if that is different

Check for leaks

That may be what its doing although the 'remaining' figures will never change.
I'm tempted to run it on petrol for a week and see how that pans out...
