Title: 2.2 Ecotec engine- chain cam?
Post by: amor49 on 22 June 2008, 07:56:34
I have one of the last Omega CDX Estates, which is a 2.2CDX auitomatic. Can anyone tell me if the cam is chain or belt driven on this engine? I have only found conflicting information elsewhere, so would appreciate confirmation from someone who really knows!

Itīs belt driven.

That chain driven Z22SE engine is in Astra, vectra, zafira and speedster.

Just to confirm, the 2.2 fitted to Omega is most definately a belt driven unit, and different to other 2.2 fitted to other Vauxhalls.

To add, it needs changing every 40,000 miles or 4 years, whichever comes first, along with the tensioners and water pump.

Yes, its the same engine as used in the Frontera and Sintra, its not the later all alloy one associated with te VX220, Astra, Vectra and Signum.

Its basically a stroked version of the 2.0 Ecotoec (longer block) with a later injection setup on iy (drive by wire and coil per plug)
