Title: cam cover gasket
Post by: psychnurse on 01 July 2008, 15:07:43
Have to do the cam cover gasket asap.... loads of oil in plugs. Few questions... if removing oil from plug wells how can I do this ?? i need cam kit doing asap... which job is best to do first (I have 0 experience so will take years so both is not an option!  ::)) when the referal is made to 'clean breathers' as a root cause is this what it means.... http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1194007453

ANY help and suggestions greatly recieved as I am a numpty with no experience but want to at least have a go! Then I have wheel bearing and all sorts to do after!!

Its for the 2.0 estate by the way, not the elite... James did that properly  ;D ;D

Yes that guide is the right one mate - and a good one it is too :y

Removing the oil - a syringe should work well for most of it.   Try not to let too much run into the cylinders as it won't do the cat any good.

If the cambelt is due, or you have reason to doubt it - do that. The camcover can wait - won't lead to catastrophic failure..

None of these are too difficult on the 2.0

Cheers
Ian

the cam gasket will be fine - if its going to be a while you could always mop the plug wells out to save the plug leads.

The 4 pot cambelt is pretty easy compared to the V6.   Remember to change the water pump at the same time as if that seizes it will take out your cambelt.

2.0 cam cover gasket is a LOT easier than the V6.

Just use rolled up bits of kitchen paper and dunk it in the plug wells, takes a while but you get there  :y
