Title: Strange noise
Post by: dino on 01 July 2008, 07:29:55
Hi, i was hoping someone might e able to help me.

I was driving home today and as i pulled up i noticed a funny vibration through the floor.  I got out of the car, left it running, and lifted the bonnet and it sounded like liquid being sucked through a straw.  I switched the air con off and went for a quick drive and i did not notice it again.  However, and this is the strange part, i got back home and again got out of the car with out turning it off and i could now hear a tapping noise, i thought it must be something to do with the engine and so turned it off, but the noise continued untill the fan stopped.

Any ideas?

Its a 99 mv6 and its only done 57K none of it hard.

It was fully serviced at Vx in Feb.

Have a nosey around the fans in front of the rad and behind it ( do it when it is cold because you don't want them starting up and mincing fingers): you may find leaves, paper, dead birds etc that are causing the ticking

Feel like a bit of a plonker, you were right, bit of wood next to the fan in front of the rad was causing the noise.  Many thanks. :y
