If an exhaust was failed for having a hole in it, the size of a 10p, if that hole was bandaged and sealed as opposed to replaced, would that still be an MOT failure or would that be okay?
-
It should not fail. the exaust to pass an MOT should be secure and effective with no leaks if you do a good repair you will get a pass on it :y
-
Yes Tony is correct should pass make sure its a perm fox not temp

ok, going to feed another pet, so hold on.
As a biker(and car driver), i find it amazing that people drive round with exhausts hanging off, dragging on the ground, sparks flying, and one bump away from falling off in the path of a car or bike behind or lie in wait in the road for some poor bugger to crash on or damage their vehicle! Pull them over to tell them, yes i know! they say. AAAAAH! I have in the past removed the keys from the ignition and delivered them to the local police station, and left the the banger at the side of the rd for the bil to deal with.
I know yours is not that bad but if it has a hole in, it aint that far off, so please make sure it does not get to that state, and fall off altogether.
Ok, pet fed. And off my big horse. Sorry.
To answer your question,
You will probably be fine with the mot. Provided its solid.

guaranteed that if anyone did that now, the good citizen would be done for theft :(
-
nope, not yet.

My back box passed it’s MOT 2 years ago with an inch hole, but since it wasn’t blowing or noisy, it was passed with an advisory note. Replaced it a week latter and found it was only the outer skin of the box, but the remains of the perforated pipes inside fell out like confetti.
-
yep no problem with a repair on the exhaust :y
-
Thanks all... Thats a relief, i can save 40 quid by repairing the pipe instead of replacing the rear part of the exhaust.
Got 2 s/h shocks from fleabay, still looking for 2 springs, buying brakes new from trade... And she'll be legal again...
